Higher and Higher
The dust over years it disappears
You put out the fire when You appear
You light up the sky like a cloud in monsoon
And dispel all doubt like the benediction moon
You are the life of all and increasing bliss
A nectar for which we are so anxious
Like a spiritual doctor who has the remedy
Invested with spiritual energy
From above in the spiritual sky
We sing Your names and higher and higher we go
It's not too hard to reach right in
But where is my attraction for them
It's not so hard with a humble mind
Like a straw on the street it's easy to find
I don't want desire to accumulate wealth
Nor a long life lived with moderate health
There is only one way to rid this madness or mirth
To start a new life, to take a new birth
Up above in the spiritual sky
We sing Your names and higher and higher we go
For Maharaja Nanda You became his son
Just to pick us up out of this ocean
When will it be that I show loving tears
Must I call Your name for millions of years
Without You near a minute seems unending
Is it rain or sadness that I feel flowing
You can be rough or even leave me
But one day I will be back with You eternally
Up above in the spiritual sky
We sing Your names and higher and higher we go
We all Need a Teacher
When I was a baby candy was enough for me
When I was a boy I was controlled by every toy
Then I grew a little older and became a little bolder
I destroyed my life like I destroyed my toys
When I was quite small I was happy in the hall
Then looking out the door, I saw there was much more
I desired to find a piece, broke free from my leash
Was gonna become rich, but I became so poor
When I was young I was protected by my mom
Grew up through the years protected by my tears
Searched for my own ground nowhere was it found
I misjudged my strength, so help me out of here
I need a leader strong, so long was without cause
I've lived a life between a hundred different wars
Seen ally ways of heroin, and countless lusty whores
I need a leader, not just another Santa Claus
We all need a teacher, that goes for everyone
One life may seem good but then you lead another one
One time it is rain, the next it may be sun
But for real life, it's true, we all need someone
That man is Prabhupada, I'm not sure if you've heard
He is a perfect man without sin within this world
The works begun, admit our faults, come back, don't run
No hiding now, I'll show you how, and promise you more fun
Turn to Me
Jumping like a monkey from tree to tree
Eating the fruits so merrily
I'm with you but you don't notice me
I'm the witness
You've been all around the universe
One body to the next, oh what a curse
Don't know where you have been and what is worse
You don't know where you are going
Don't you think you should turn to Me
Isn't it time for eternity
Looking to the outside to find yourself
Are you physical strength or mental health
But the real you is somewhere else
And I am with you
You tried so hard again and again
To find yourself fortune and fame
Suffered defeat, embarrassment, shame
And I am seeing
I'm hoping that one day you will change your way
Don't be a dog, don't act like a stray
I can show you the supreme way
I'm the Supersoul
Don't you think you should turn to Me
Isn't it time for eternity
In The City
Summertime in the city
Men looking smart, girls looking pretty
Dogs on the bark, cool cat looking for kitty
Animals in jump suits going to a party
Jelly beans for brains, thinking he's a smarty
I.Q gone insane, looking rather tardy
Why do they waste their time in foolish preparation
Why do they waste their lives in ghoulish incantation
Brother Andy
Brother Andy, a noble man
His life was for the Lord's command
The threw himself some say unplanned
Into a life that will demand
Surrender
The brothers they were strong at heart
And resolute to make a start
With full commitment, not just part
And put the horse befor the cart
Remember
Impossible to say the least
Upon flesh, enjoy a feast
Instead of mother, she's called a beast
Instead of butcher, he's called a priest
Pretender
But Andy he was sad within
It seemed that he just couldn't win
He tried again to sink or swim
To reach the end he must begin
At last
The corridors, the monastery
Remain to some a mystery
Mutually directed flattery
A long respected history
It's past
A noble but a normal soul
Still attached to rock and roll
Deviating from life's goal
Empty chapel hymns cajole
Life's fast
But Andy he could still persist
The taste for life he could not resist
For suffering, renouncing bliss
Desires again to taste a kiss
To live a lie
Entangled in a way so dry
Beyond the walls to see the sky
The glimmer in a young girls eye
A pig alone without a sty
High and dry
Lusting for the ways of young
Desires to hold on to someone
Alive, they talk of death for fun
impalement, cross, and resurrection
It's sad
The brothers they were compromised
To keep him here although despised
Embroiled in guilt and spoonfed lies
Try that jacked on for size
It's hurting
High ideals and aspirations
Are not enough for liberation
Personal emancipation
Requires personal association
Not flirting
But God is not behind disguise
A sunken treasure or lottery prize
Nor imagination of the so-called wise
He has curling hair and lotus eyes
He's waiting
Someone New
Huddled in a heap against the storm
No place to call our own
Nowhere to call a home
The wind was crying in the wilderness
Our souls were covered more or less
Someone was giving us a test
And we found Him in the voice of someone
new to us who knew us anyway
Found Him in the words of someone
coming from a place where we could stay
Sheltered from the downpour of despair
But searching everywhere
For the one who really cares
Imagining a world emitting light
No fearful state at night
Hoping we just might
And we found it in the life of someone
new to us who knew us anyway
Found it in the life of someone
already there, who came to pass this way
Feeling full of happiness inside
Secure with you as our guide
We begin to see outside
Everyone is placed here all alone
And left aside to roam
Until you take them home
And He's calling souls to come with Him
To return to that place where we can stay
So we follow at the break of dawn
The sun comes shining up for a new day
